My new floor pans are almost completely in and I am preparing for next steps prior to new carpet. I plan on seam sealing the perimeter of the floors and I am wondering if I need to coat the floors with anything prior to Dynamat extreme install? Also what have you guys used on the exterior surfaces of the new floor pans to protect and give a factory appearance?
On my 78 I just put the dynamat down after I wiped off any residue ( like oil on the new steel). For the underside I just sprayed some bed liner, again after wiping it down.
I put some patches in the floors of my 76. I primed and painted with Rustoleum before the Dynamat went down. Under the car I primed and undercoated. Good luck.

Use some of the spray stuff you can buy at the local car parts places. If you are not planning on having the car sit outside for extended periods or be used during rain/snow/salt conditions, that stuff will do a good job. Just make sure the surfaces are clean before you spray it.
Yeah, what 7T1vette said-just spray cans from the local parts store. I masked off the frame and anything else I didn't want undercoat on, painted and sprayed the U/C. it went on nice and smooth and dried real nice, looks great. Good luck.

I should have also said I cleaned everything underneath before painting and undercoating. I scraped as much crud off as I could then used denatured alcohol to wipe the floors clean.
