So I let my subscription to "Corvette" expire and am looking for a good magazine for the Corvette that covers more on repairs, restoration, restomod, etc. type information like "Corvette Fever" use to have. Does anyone have any suggestions?
So I 'fell' for the free issue , take a test drive of CORVETTE MAG.
So what comes in...99% New C-6,C-7,C-8 flack pieces, and on the last page some 'smear campaign' on how bad TBI Cross-fires are! (they changed the world!)
See the avatar for a clue. If I wanted a bunch of no-fact,dumb, no-idea, no clue BS, I can cruise the internet and NOT PAY FOR IT. The guy didn't even refer to THOUSANDS of documents that say the contrary, nor any historical references.
Bad/TERMINAL way to start out. BIRD-CAGE LINER WITH PICTURES OF CORVETTES.
Vette Vues anyone? I just asked this same question on a FB group I belong to and Vette Vues came up. I have never seen a copy so I would be interested myself in your "Vues"!

Recently had it for a year...small magazine in size and a bit hard to read. I did not renew.
I have been a subscriber to Vette Vues magazine since 1975. It is roughly the size of a Readers Digest magazine. It is still a very informative magazine for older cars. It is the first Corvette magazine after
GM's Corvette News magazine. Lou.
Magazines are becoming few and far between, unfortunately. Older people who were used to subscribing are dying off. However I read an article recently where some Millennials who are getting on in their careers are 'rediscovering' analog print magazines (like other things Ananog) ...which if continues, offers a glimmer of hope.
I wish there were a "Classic Corvette" magazine (C4 and earlier). I would subscribe immediately. I've written letters to Corvette magazine and TEN suggesting they investigate such a possibility. Perhaps if some here were to write letters also suggesting a ''Classic Corvette" magazine, maybe we can make something happen. Maybe Hemmings is a better bet b/c the larger conglomerates may be less likely to take a 'corporate risk'.
Mark...Keepin' Track bumped along the bottom for a few years after Bernie Finkel died (crushed by a DeLorean of all things)..His daughter kept it going (Shelli Finkel) for a while.
Bernie Finkel was a big muckety-muck in BMW clubs.
'tis a shame really. I used to know all them really well.

I always thought that might be interesting too, although I’d stop at C3. Unfortunately, I’m guessing the demographics would suggest there’s less and less of us that would be interested in it to make it financially viable. There’s probably more interest in a late model Corvette mag or a restomod mag, neither of which I’d even look at.

Interesting ...I did not know that. That's sad. I really liked that magazine. Thanks for the follow-up.

Way back in the day there was Shark magazine devoted to C3s. That was probably twenty years ago. Then there was Corvette Enthusiast, which in my mind was the best technical magazine that pretty much wrote about C1-C3s. It was a member of the Amos Publication group, but that was merged and got co-opted by the C5-C7 market and then just seemed to disappear.
No doubt there is a void for the C3 technical enthusiast, which makes forums, such as this so incredibly useful.
There doesn't seem to much in print media available now that "Vette" died off. "Corvette" magazine isn't horrible for the vette-obsessed like me, but the wealth of Corvette websites like this one have provided all that the dinosaur dead magazines used to and so much more. A simple search gets us whatever tech we need, whatever innovations and instructions, etc. It's remarkable how much insightful information is out there now that people had to fumble through on their own in the past. It's one of the best things about this site.
While I certainly prefer a tangible page turning copy of something in my hand to reading on the screen, I'm afraid those days have passed for the most part. Many of the contributors here could certainly publish a magazine with how-to's and cover shot worthy cars, but production and distribution costs will likely never justify the thing... not when we can just key in what we're looking for. Too bad.. It's why I have a closet full of corvette magazines... I've forgotten a lot of what I've read, having read so much, so several years later it's almost like reading a new one... And the how to articles from Vette have come in handy many times in my restorations.
I think to a certain degree, Stroh, you're right: Forums do fill a technical need. But what I like about magazines are the well-written stories about people's cars, good pictures, researched historical articles, Cruise reviews ...which hardly no forums do a good job covering in a meaningful reliable manner (regardless of forum make). Sure from time to time an article comes up, but not a whole lot.
I agree that Corvette Enthusiest was a great read. I also miss Corvette Fever.
The news stand magazines keep diminishing in general. The Corvette availability has depleted to just about next to nothing. On the other hand if you're a Porsche enthusiast there are several magazines to choose from.
I had about 20 years of Corvette Fever taking up space. I didn't know how to disposition them so they went in the recycling. I'm sorry I did that now, I could have started at the back and worked my way forward without ever realizing that I'd already read that issue.
While I do like getting Magazines, I have found this forum to be far more valuable than any magazine. I can come here and ask a specific question and in a very short time I get several responses from people with varying degrees of experience and always get my problem solved. Even without asking a question, I can search and find someone who has had and fixed most any problem I may encounter. I spend a lot of time here just lurking and loitering and learn plenty. In my mind, this forum is very similar to hanging around a Gas Station Garage 40+ years where my buddies and I worked on our cars.

Stay well, y'all. Stay positive.
wow. I just realized I haven’t read vette magazine in a while. That sucks.
Technically, they owe me money at Vette... 2 year subscription renewed about a month before they hung it up... Oh well... I'm still bummed they're gone.
On the meantime, Corvette is decent. Fills a void for now. They do have great photography. And eventually. (when I'm finished) my 70 will grace their cover. lol
