Default Spark plug wire routing

Found some interesting wire routing on both sides of the engine. I am assuming this is not correct? Passenger side pictured here.

seems like an excellent way to wear through the wire insulation and short out the plug wires

Believe it or not they are supposed to be sandwiched behind the motor mount and engine block for the first 2 cylinders on the front of the engine (1,3 and 2,4) It would look similar but would stay in tune to the engine vibrations so there would be no wear. Theres another thread from last week with a similar title floating around. Lars posted some good small block pics.

heres one

Wow, that's some trick. I guess he never planned on changing the wires.
Even the default way is stupid.

Engine's get hot, exhausts get hotter.
The trick is too keep the heat away from the wires as much as possible.
I used wire tracks to keep mine away and out in the open as much as possible. Makes the engine look shiny and organized.
At the plug I use heat sleeves, they are 6 inches long an made up of the same material as the exhaust pipe wrap.

Although my car is totally a 20 ft. driver, I really like the wires underneath and out of view. It is a unique Corvette touch that I think is kind of cool!
