Due to a large cam and little manifold vacuum, I have installed an electric vacuum pump for the power brake booster. When it operates as soon as it shuts off, I hear what sounds like the vacuum collapsing back through the pump. It is an A/C Delco 20939309 original equipment power brake booster pump assembly. I am operating it with a vacuum control switch, which is supposed to shut off at 18-20" vacuum. I assumed it had an internal check valve, but it doesn't sound like it and I have no vacuum when it shuts off. please advise.

Yes like Mel said, you should have a booster check valve and a check valve just before the pump. I just bought a new pump and it came with 2 tees and 2 check valves.

I am putting my system together without buying kits, less costly, but more aggravation. I order a new check valve for the pump and had already installed one on the booster. I appreciate your help,
