C3 74 Corvette French lock
Hi,
I hope someone can help me , I took this part off my 1974 Corvette 350 but I don't remember where it came from , maybe transmission not sure.
it's 3 1/4 from center to center of the holes, 4 1/2 from end to end.

Exhaust manifold? The only [stock] French locks I can think of are the exhaust manifolds and the half-shaft U-joints.

There's also a French lock on M40 transmissions at the exhaust pipe hanger/clamp at the frame crossmember.

Yup - there's one there, well, not on my car... At the moment, I've got mine in a baggie while I wait for the TH-400 to come back from the shop.

Yes, that's exactly where it came from. I had put in some new 3" pipes and had trouble with the hanger/clamp so I didn't put it back..

Thanks a bunch, that was it. It was left over from a header/pipe replacement.

Most corner shop mechanics today have never seen a french-lock, so they toss them away.

Left over parts/bolts/nuts go in a baggie in the storage compartment. Makes for a nice occasional rattle. (*ref rule 843.62)
