Default Left / Right seats?

I'm pretty sure my '69 is a Frankenstein car cobbled together from various bits and bobs, but I just wanted to confirm something I couldn't seem to suss out from the AIM or online parts places - is the seat release on the same side for both left and right seats?

They are on mine. Which seems crazy weird to me, I assumed it was bubba in action, but reading the AIM it seems like that might actually be normal?

Yes. The seats are the same and can be swapped left for right and vice versa.

The shoulder belt guide is the only L/R difference and to my understanding only one guide type was used on either side.

ya know, it almost might be an idea to rotate them like tires. matching mild wear. instead of 1 that has never been sat on and 1 left one.

The General being cheap making them both the same! I will never understand how the first design 1968 seat back latch position passed. You can't even get your hand on it to flip the seat forward.
I changed mine right away after buying the upper position parts over the counter at my Chevy dealer. You have to modify the seat frame some. Not that easy to do. Lou.
