With the onset of the Corona Virus I am concerned for our suppliers and all those that directly or indirectly support the Corvette hobby.
I am hopeful that those supplying parts will be able to weather the shutdowns; slowdowns; and loss of production and distribution revenue. We need them.
I am hopeful that those relying upon parts sourced from outside the United States, can find United States sourced products for the future. This will help all our industries and suppliers to survive the long tough days ahead.
I am hopeful that car shows; club activities; and car cruises will one day return so we can enjoy the company of our fellow Corvette and car enthusiasts.
I hope those working on their cars don’t get discouraged with the difficulties associated with sourcing parts and services; and continue to support these companies whenever possible.
Most of all I hope all of you stay safe, stay strong, stay engaged, and stay healthy. Our hobby depends upon us all.
Same here!
Plus, my "5 o'clock whistle" can't come soon enough to get out to the garage and tinker. Plus, the whistle seems to be developing a glitch causing it blow earlier and earlier each day - especially if the sun is shining!
Keep positive - we'll all get through this - sooner than later I hope!
Great thread. I’ve been ordering a fair number of parts myself. I’ve been trying to favor US made parts when possible. We’ve all griped about the crappy Chinese made parts from time to time and I think we (certainly I) got conditioned to just accept that as normal. No more for me! I’ll gladly pay a little more for domestically manufactured parts. The Chicoms can keep their crappy quality parts at home.....

I've had the same thoughts. I think the Chinese parts will be difficult to get until the US manufacturers step up (which they eventually will) - even so, expect prices to rise. All told, I think if the manufacturing moves back here to the states
it will be a good thing. Some of the parts I have gotten are not top quality and I wonder how long they will last. I personally have made several big orders since I have been pelted with multiple savings coupons.
I placed an order with Paragon on Monday. All but one item was in stock and the backorder part is only 7-10 days out. Received an email yesterday that my order shipped.
Pretty good with all the delays I've seen/heard about recently.
Most of the on-line suppliers are busier than ever with this going on. Folks are home with little to do. What better time to get work done on the car??
David! AMEN to that!
I plan on spending a couple thou supporting our favorite vendors.
I'm going to buy another C-3...which is guaranteed to do better than the $%^& stock market, or my 0.14% APR savings account!.
I, like you, am asking vendors to 'stop with the cheap Chinese garbage'...I WILL pay a premium for real, made in America QUALITY.
I've seen too much rubbish out there.
There is a place for these cheap parts...let your BUYERS make the choice for USA QUALITY or Cheapo 'just get's it, barely'.
I think car shows will continue...We here in AZ are opposite to the rest of the country...you're coming into Car Show Season and we're going away.
One of the pleasures of my life ALWAYS HAS BEEN, and always will be, working on the 'Vette(s)'. Friends call me on Sat. and immediately say..."I'll make this short, your're working on the car".
To those who've lost their jobs. My heart is heavy. Advice (easily spat out) is 're-invent yourself'. Will your hobby become your business? This is G-d's way of changing the track of your life, move WITH IT.
All of you are Brothers (and Sisters) we have a 'club' that is 550,000 strong. Lets revel in THAT!
Sadly, between working at a pharmaceutical distribution center, so yeah I've been busy, and moving to a new house, the Vette has been severely neglected and ignored. Don't get me wrong, it's not like it's turning into a POS, but I haven't had time to order anything for it, but will very soon. Once we close on the house we're selling it's game on and I'll be definitely be looking for made in USA quality parts! I did get it out for a drive today with the tops off and loved every second of it. Hope everyone out there is doing well.
Been ordering alot since this Covid crap has me remote from home half the week. Getting plenty done though. Recent online purchases from LMC Truck, Summit, Ecklers Corvette as well as Ecklers Chevelle parts. These parts houses are probably busier than they have ever been. I agree with the sentiment, I would spend more for an American made part, if I could find it.
I've also ordered a ton of stuff in the last 3 months. Some because of the virus, but most because I started an engine/transmission swap project with EFI and Serpentine belt around the first of February. Good time to be in the shop. My ordering has mostly gone well but some suppliers are having issues. Some bolts I need have been back ordered by ARP until 2nd week of June. I really have to pay attention on Amazon now. Some "In Stock" products have delivery dates 2 to 3 weeks out. Summit Racing has been great. Can't believe how fast they can fill some of my orders and get them to me, especially if my item is in stock in their Texas warehouse.
I too share David thought, everyone please be safe.
I have been buying a fair amount of items lately, I have been trying to get good used items off the forum, with success.
the new items in the past sometime have been poor quality Chinese items, which annoys the crap out of me.
Hopefully, the American manufacturers will take notice.
those of us with a vette are not usually hand-to-mouth. i am being paid to sit home and take copier training classes i could teach while ordering parts for the loooong neglected 75 project bomb. and my stimulus check just hit the bank today!!!

Either I missed your point completely, or you missed mine. Either way, good that you are enjoying your time at home. Keep the projects rolling.
David
just saying they may be among the few that are busier than usual these days. spending a lot of time at home and the neglected car is getting attention. i am sure there are many in my boat. nice boat to be in.

Distributors and wholesalers may well be Derek, that is true. I think those that manufacture parts (like Paragon, Corvette America, and others) may not be able to get back to work yet and they specifically may have orders they cannot fill at the moment. I am hoping they can all survived this extended period of and eventually can get back to making parts and filling orders.
You make a good point, thank you.
David
