I know that you stated you didn't particularly like silver. But, if you decide you should paint it a 'stock' color for 1973, Silver with the Dark Red interior would be pretty nice. Or, Metallic Gold with either Dark or Medium Saddle interior would also look terrific.
P.S. I do like Atomic Orange or, for a stock C3 color, Ontario Orange [Firemist] paint.
Answering your question, yes there is a devaluation, particularly with a big block, assuming its original. You can paint it any color you want, but it will devalue the car.
So, you bought a big block Corvette and you don’t want a color that attracts attention?
It is an original Big Block with matching numbers I had to change out the transmission linkage because it jammed. I can't understand how an engineer would design a linkage too mount on the frame of the car and not on the transmission which put it in a different frame of reference.
I am torn between a color I like and the original as you. know Thanks for your input I appreciate it.
There would be a 'devaluation' for color change IF the buyer required the original color on the car. For the vast majority of 'driver' C3's and of C3 buyer's, this is irrelevant. They want a car that looks great and operates well.

Alright, Let me put all the pieces together, like I should have done yesterday, 1. It's a 73 (GREAT year) 2. Big Block Car (Highly Desirable) 3. Matching numbers (It's only getting better) 4. The original color is not your personal favorite, but you're okay with it as I would say the vast majority of people would be.
If it was mine, I wouldn't think twice about it. I would definitely paint it the original color.
I could always sell the 73 someday for VERY NICE COIN because it has a lot of desirable attributes, and then I would have plenty of play money to buy and modify a 74-77, and paint it whatever color I want without any potential down side.
The DESIRABLE 73 has made it this long "original". My vote is to keep it that way, but hey do what ya want because you're going to anyways, and as long as your happy with it then that's all that matters.
Great answer thank you I have a lot to think about I need to find a car recently;y painted in silver to give it a second thought. I am replacing all the wiring right now and after that I need to decide on a color. Your inout is food for thought
Thanks a lot
I am at a point in a restoration where the system work is complete and I need to do the body and paint.
My dilemma is what color to paint the car.
The VIN indicates that this 73 454 T top was painted silver which I am not particularly fond of. Someone along the way painted it Red which attracts too much attention. I would like to choose a new color such as amid to light blue or a dark Green (Brittish racing green, I have an XKE in that color). I guess I would like to know what effect a deviation form the original color has on any value. I would also like to post a question to anyone who cares to answer what color would they would like. Sort of a popularity pole. Any answers would be appreciated.
Thank You
If you're gonna change it to another stock '73 color?...........Two words.........Elkhart Green. You will have people commenting (favorably) on it everywhere you go.
Well, I have become partial to yellow. Mine is the stock 1975 Corvette Bright Yellow. Not sure how that matches to the '73 2354 Yellow. That looks a little darker. I call it a "green yellow" vice the more common "red yellow" you see out there.
