Hello, I have an 1981 corvette birdcage that I am wanting to put a 1974 firewall on. does anyone know if these parts are inter changeable? Also do anyone know where I can find instructions on how to install the firewall?

Purchase the assembly instruction manual (AIM) and follow the diagrams. The AIM shows how the car was assembled at the plant, shows the parts you will need, and the original GM part numbers. Out of curiosity, why are you wanting a 74 firewall in an 81? I'm wondering whether your project is going to involve more than the firewall.
It absolutely will involve more. As Mike asked, why? Firewalls don't wear out. And they don't show when the hood is closed. You will get rust behind them. I could see wanting to change bird cage or pieces of it. But generally the same firewall will go back easier than fitting a different one. The rivet holes will work as alignment pins. you have 2 threads about this. a little more light reading. https://www.corvette-restoration.com...inting-part-1/ then go into part 2.

Hello and thank for you reply this will help get the information that I am looking for.
I had a long write up explaining why I am needing to replace or fix my firewall; however, my computer froze and lost everything I am not writing it again. in short the front of the 81 vet had a electrical fire, damaged part of the firewall. I could either just buy a piece to replace the damage area or just replace the hole wall with the 74 that I have laying around that is free and I do not have to buy.
