Is there an aftermarket replacement to the original mast antenna ? I am looking for something shorter, like a stubby antenna, but have had no luck finding anything that fits. Anyone had any luck ?
Thanks,

you can simply cut the antenna so its shorter.. this will result in weaker reception but then so will any "stubby" aftermarket antenna you find as well.

An original antenna is worth considerably more than a reproduction one. I would hesitate cutting one.
On cars with FM/AM radio, Chevrolet used one piece antenna masts because FM radios want a specific length. When I ordered my 68 Camaro with FM/AM radio, the mast was like our Corvettes. My buddies and I always wondered why you could not retract the mast like on most other cars.

Ah yes but if it wasnt for people hacking up and destroying the originals would they be worth as much? we are talking about a mass produced radio antenna that came on many 70's cars I believe.. That said I wouldnt hack up mine.. just pointing out its an option that comes with costs.. like inferior reception.
