Default Rubber molding question

Did all '71 Corvettes come with this rubber piece on both sides that is above the trim tag area? Looks like it's a water diverter.
I ask because there is a 7K mile '71 Coupe on BAT that does not have them on either side. Also, it's unrestored and has paint on the hood support.

I think in late 71 those were removed, all 72s did not have them

Thanks, it's a very late '71 so maybe that's the reason they aren't there.

Tagging along cause while replacing the weather stripping for the A-pillar I cannot get the lower screw out of that piece so like kansas123 why did they remove it? T

No doubt a money-saving 'brilliant' idea from some rising star in GM financial....

My '71 was built in Dec '70 and it has those seals.
