Instead of going through all this confusion with NGK plugs, why not use the correct AC-Delco plug for that engine, R45TS?
i did this exactly...rock auto ..not only did ac delco change length of total plug compared to originals but all china..i gave them away..
i went back to my learned favorite ngk...i think the best non fouling plug ever..at least in my old bikes and honda cars..hell lawn mower power washer..they were closer to original size too...even closer than ac delco themselves..
r45 something dont remember i was so pissed
not china either..i think japan. Made

I don’t see the confusion....they have been the same part number and it looks up correct everywhere.
The XR4, UR4 and FR4 fit 99% of all small blocks over the years.....
I will not run anything else and haven’t since I was a kid.....
It is just a better product.
Thank You.....I just try to stick with the facts, I am happy to help as it is very gratifying to share knowledge....I oops from time to time myself and this forum is pretty easy on me .....I was shown the right way to do things by some of the best in the industry, but the industry was not for me....way too difficult to make a living, so I just work out of my 2.5 car garage and help a LOT of people out........one thing that will never change is that I have loved engines since I was a little boy, love em', and to work on old ****, you have to love em'! LOL.
The folks that know these cars are aging unfortunately.....and it is now up to my generation to keep the faith I guess......because if it wasn't for them, I couldn't type any of this.

Jebby, thanks for what you do and for sharing your knowledge. Here is an earlier post of mine reverently reflecting on my experience with "old school mechanic" Sam.

I just checked out “Sam”.....I was taught and practically raised by guys like him....they were crabby and didn’t like to listen, but if YOU stuck around and listened....you could pickup things that would make your head spin.....the 80’s and 90’s were awesome times to be a young man....
Hi there with no knowledge on what I was buying apart from what it said on the info on eBay buyer beware . As it is longer than 180 days for a complaint I doubt I have recourse for a refund . It sounds like I’m a complete no nothing in this instance I have been . Unless your in the know a v8 is a v8 . I still hope to fix the problem on my 305 engine . Thanks for all your help . Ivo
Just a quick question my engine 305 camero engine it has no heat risers the inlet gaskets have stainless plates over the exhaust entry into the inlet manifold . When I took the inlet off I noticed egr stamped in it . Can that still be doing something . As my engine still cuts out after about 500 yards . Any info will be greatfully received. Thanks ivo
Do whatever with the choice of spark plugs, that is not your problem. When it quits, did you check for fuel at the carb? Could be the fuel filter is plugged up. Fuel pump maybe shot. But more likely the condenser inside the distributor. I have had the condenser go bad on a couple of old cars. One would go 15 miles and quit, set for awhile alongside the road , fire up and go another 10. Changed the condenser ,no more problems. Another time I did a tune up on my Corvair, plugs points condenser. The next day stopped for gas and it wouldn't restart. Pushed it out of the way checked everything and it started . Drove home and it wouldn't start. Changed the condenser to the old one, been running fine for 4 years. Even new parts can and do fail.
Hi there thanks for that but everything you mentioned I have done . Complete ignition makeover . Seperate fuel system . It still just cuts out . I am trying a different carb tomorrow . We will see if that works thanks again ivo

Hi Hodddball, you're getting lots of good advice/help. I also suggest that you lose the rubber fuel line/plastic fuel filter. It would be a shame to sort this all out only to end up with an engine fire.
