I hope this post makes sense. My Vette is a 1977 L-48. Automatic if that makes a difference. In what has become my never ending journey to get my a/c running there is a piece of ductwork missing from the drivers side. When it is on air blows on my left knee. My question is: is the ductwork from the console area one piece or two? Thanks.
You really NEED to get a copy of the 1971 Assembly Instruction Manual (A.I.M.), if you are going to do a lot of work on that car yourself. All of those (How do I take that apart? What goes there?) are answered with perspective drawings of the detailed car assembly. It is a MUST HAVE, along with the Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual; and, if you are rebuilding engine/trans or other accessory items, the Chevrolet Chassis Overhaul Manual.
The Chevy manuals may not be in print, but they can regularly be found on eBay and at Corvette swap meets.
No problem. As Red Green used to say, "We're all in this together!"
Yes we are. Picked up the White Rabbit a bit ago. New compressor installed, air diverter door cable fixed and heater shut off valve vacuum line fixed so it now functions properly. For a 77 Vette I am happy with the outcome. Next stop: get the piece of ductwork and install. After that HOPEFULLY install the carpet set I have had for a year. As others have said a C3 is a never ending project and a labor of love.
You may have the piece on the Zip link, what you might be missing is the piece after that, which links this piece to the hole in the dash and the louvered ball. And that piece will be a &%#&*(&&^^% to find believe me..............

You mean the ductwork for the driver's side has 2 pieces from the console to the louvered ball? Crap. But you saved me from buyng a part I don't need. Thanks.

Thanks again. The new plan is to have the shop measure the diameter of the piece in place and the duct end. Second to have them measure how long a tube I need. Nostalgic auto air sells the tube in various diameters by the foot. Then get the correct diameter and add a foot for good measure. You stretch the tubing to get a smooth tube. Clamp it at each end and away I go. HOPEFULLY this will result in good alternative. Do not want a Bubba looking job.
