Trying to figure out what the (#2 in picture) Red and Green wires coming out of the bulk head to the L-shaped connector go. 12v on red.
Someone connected a (#1 in picture) black wire that is cutoff and taped hanging down behind the engine. Must have been patched in for something, but I don't see the other end.
I've been finding a lot of strange things since I had the engine rebuilt and reinstalled in the car last Fall.

Looks like someone needed 12V for an accessory of some sort and tapped into the red wire to get it. Since the black wire is not connected to anything, you can remove the blue scotch lock connector and tape up the red wire where the insulation was pierced.
It has the same colors and look of the backup light switch connection. But it doesn't seem to be where I would have guessed.
I never would have thought of a backup ligfht switch connection being next to the wiper motor.
Now I found it on the schmatic PNK-WHT & GRN I was looking for RED/GRN. B/U LT SW.
I need to put a meter on this, it looks likt it is 12V only when key is IGN.
On my 73 manual tranny, the PO tied the electric choke to that connector, as it has power when the ignition is in the “ON” position.
That's probably what happened here.
Last night I pulled the black wire up and found that it's a tight coil of wire about 3' ft long.
When I had the engine removed to be rebuilt I had mentioned to one of the mechanics I know, I was thinking of going to an electric choke sometime after I get the rebuild sorted out. I'll bet while the engine compartment was empty he simply stood inside there and added the connection for me. I'm going to ask him later today if that's what he did.
Update: Yep, he had a slow period and did it, tucked the wire coil up around the wiper motor and it must have fell down and I noticed it.
The next question, do your back up lights come on? Bubba decided the electric choke was more important, and removed the switch assembly / harness from the tranny on my 73, real smart!

Good Grief! I'll be checking that tonight.
If I keep that connection then I'll be adding a 10a inline fuse when I install the choke,
