How to winch a C3

Good morning all.
A quick question. I have to winch my non running c3 onto my 4 post lift with a come along. Where is the best place to hook up on the car?

I've connected to the lower A-arms with a short cable/chain between them and the come-along to the center of the short chain so you're pulling on both sides equally.

Connect to frame or to some heavy gauge metal item connected to the frame. An issue is how to pull on the cable without damaging the front air dam.

Before all the safety features, you could move a manual tranny car with the starter motor.

I understood that the center mounted "skid plate" in front of the air dam was intended to be a winch pull point, just as are the two in back.

Anytime I've had one of these towed I've noticed that the flatbed trucks wench by attaching a short cable/chain between the lower A-arms long enough that it extends a few feet in front of the air damn.
Then they place a 4x4 length of wood on top of the cables just behind the air dam. When they pull the wench tight at the center using their come-along the short cable pulls the 4x4 up against the frame and avoids crushing the air dam.
