Default 78 Corvette

When I accelerate, the back of my 78 shifts to one side .... and when I let off it shifts back. I was told the trailing arm bushings needed replaced. I bought the rebuild kit but when I took it to a mechanic, he said they looked good to him. I replaced the camber caster adjustment rods, but it didn't make any difference. Any thoughts ...............

I would pull the trailing arms. I don't know how well you can determine the condition of the bushings while they're in the car. You can inspect the whole arms then. I was having the same issue once and when I pulled the arms I found that one was cracked and starting to split open. After I welded it up and reinstalled it the problem was gone.

Check your motor mounts. If one of them has separated, there will be movement in the drive train when you accelerate.

Also, you could have a problem with body mounts.....especially in the rear.
