I wash it with water from the hose. Sometimes with a sponge OMG!
I have driven in the rain at least twice this year. Didn't start out raining, but it was by time I got home.
When I had the engine reinstalled in the car last October, I drove home in sleeting snow. Didn't see any restriction in the owner's manual.
A quick wipe down with a towel and it dries in the garage.
I do HATE driving in 95 degree sun. I will NOT do it. Hate frying my brains anymore than I need to. Summer is T-Top-less. Spring and Fall is mostly with T-Tops.
It's a freaking car and should be driven, that's where the fun is in owning it.
Anyway that's my take. I don't even stop to look at trailer queens at shows.

Now flame on!

If I get caught in rain and have so what its just a car. Not gonna melt, underside still looks the same as when I assmbled it many yrs ago.
Besides, it can be fun when everythings wet and slick.lol

We drove her 79 through the thunderstorm of the year, at night, hours after buying the car. The T-Tops never go on my 80. Both are fair weather cars, but still get caught in the rain occasionally, because we actually drive them. The big danger seems to be undercarriage splashing, and perhaps leaks around the windshield and T-Tops. I would never own a show-car, though. 90% of the fun is driving them. The other 90% is fixing them up better than new (or just fixing them...).

I have a 79 c3 black beautiful baby
drive her everywhere, not interested in a show car, not interested in a trailer here and there car, interested in a car that turns heads and gives me a buzz every time I get in it, rain hail and or shine
if the paint goes off, I will repaint it, it it looks ***** underneath I dont care

I am truly confused by this comment. Most of the time I know the people who do this ( or actually don't do this) wash their car weekly. Don't it get wet then? Don't that count?
I don't do that intentionally but a couple of years ago I was at a meet and some nasty weather rolled in very quickly. Several of us took off like scalded dogs and it was kind of fun doing a very fast paced run down a major highway trying to get home ahead of it.

I left the top down. I leave the sun visors flipped up all the time anyway because I'm tall and it keeps the wind from taking the hat off my head. Put the windows up and weirdly it formed a bubble. Rained pretty good but as long as I was moving - and I was - the inside of the car didn't even get wet.

pigfarmer: Yeah, you can now deduct $5000 value from your car because it was driven in the rain. Shame on you.....
Be sure to call the insurance company so they can adjust the insured value.

Everytime this nonsense starts a thread I have to laugh.
Now there is Trailer Queens, and Garage Queens.
Oh right, I should be saving the car for the next owner. If that guy is willing to pay every dime I've put into the car, than I will do whatever he wants. If not, it gets used, maybe even used up.

The mechanic I go to has his own shop and was laughing when I had to pick up the car after he reinstalled the engine. They were predicting rain and sleet the entire week and did I want him to store it until Spring. He knew better. He said he has guys who won't pickup their car if it is raining or a chance of rain.
I have the wonder how the guys in the upper northwest even manage to own a car. Every time I've ever been in Seattle it has rained.

Bought mine with 16,000 miles on it in 1992. Now over 101,000. Only car for 10 years. Rain, snow. Up to Mt Baker and Steven's Pass in the snow to go skiing. Cross country twice.

Yeah, the convertible has been known to leak. So, I don't drive it as much. But it is a car, so I drive it. COVID and working from home has more effect on my driving it than weather this year. Used to drive to work a couple of days a week before all this stuff hit.

As for those who are worried about sun exposure, this if for you:

Ferris:
A man with priorities so far out of whack doesn't deserve such a fine automobile.

Cameron:
Ferris, he never drives it. He just rubs it with a diaper.

Owned my '68 for 48 yrs, installed the first set of Hooker side mounts about 4 months after getting it and those headers really don't like to get wet, so I really try to avoid the rain. If it had under the chassis headers would not be as concerned. Like the look of the side mounts and that's what stays on it. .

Yes, getting a set of ss side mounts would alleviate the rusting header due to driving in the rain problem, but will not spend the $ for ss tubes when there are other things to spend $ on like a repaint that is overdue.
