It was the alignment of the male pin base assembly. I had already opened the latch so that wasn’t the issue. As soon as i loosened up the second bolt i was able to lift the hood. Now the task of making sure it’s aligned right so this doesn’t happen again!
Good news, I’ve bonded with my ‘68 and now my hood is open. Thanks to the camera scope, i could see where i needed to land the ratchet and was able to loosen the nuts holding down the pin assembly.

In the aim there is dimensions for making a wooden guide for the pin alignment. Willcox sells a machined aluminum guide I use every time my hood comes off. I also mark the hinge location to help as well

Assembly instruction Manual...its in notebook form with hard to read pictures and annotations. I was for the factory guys to assemble the cars. You can get reprints, some guys here have digital copies
