I own a 82 Collectors Edition with roughly 91,000 miles on it. If I was being honest, i'd say my car is in the 65-70 percent range. i'm third owner of it, the previous two didn't take real good care of it.
My boss rents out a storefront to a guy that makes signs and he has a sister that bought a 82 Collectors Edition NEW back in 1982. She has 6100 miles on it and i'd say her's is at 99 percent. I was talking with her yesterday and she just had to tell me that over the course of her life and her now deceased husbands life they have owned 30 corvettes ... i think she has more money than she knows what to do with ...
Sometimes owning and working on Corvettes is not about $ Its about the love of the cars.
Most of the time i would say you are correct, however just listening to this woman talking about all the vettes they had i would say they didn't work on them themselves ... i could be wrong but i don't think i am.
My wife told me 40+ years ago if I wanted to play Corvette's find a way to self fund them... Had about 20 so far most barn finds restore (sometimes it would take years) sell get another, the non barn finds were funded by barn finds. If you added your labor costs you always lose.
