Touch up paint
Because I live in Spain I can’t get any touch up paint for my 1971 Bridgehampton Blue Vette. No one will ship it because it’s considered hazardous material. I don’t see how a couple pen bottles of touch up is hazardous but whatever.... Does anyone one know where I can get the formula to make color code 979 Bridgehampton Blue? I have a guy can make it for me if I can get the formula. He says his books don’t go back that far...
On my 73 convertible the paint is obviously not original and I needed to touch up a few chips/cracks. I went to Sherrington-Williams Auto Paints, and the associate used a camera placed on the car (in a couple of spots) to Get the color. After mixing, she put a touch of paint
on the can top and it matched very close. I don’t know if they have S-W in Spain, but I would find an auto paint supplier to see if they have a camera to get the color. In America all the large Do It Yourself stores employ cameras to match paint colors, the unit for automobiles is obviously portable. Even if your car has the original factory paint, you can bet that it has faded or changed a little.

Does your car have the original paint?
my car was repainted the original color in 2004... has several coats of clear lacquer on it and still looks great... just has a few nicks from the road on the nose...

Cool thanks... are those 3 separate colors that get mixed together to make Bridgehampton blue ? If so do you know the quantities or formula to mix the color?

No. They are three different manufacturers who produced the color. Your paint provider will be able to get the formulas provided he/she can source the 50 year old codes.
Do you have Sherwin-Williams auto paint stores in Spain? If so, they can look up the original formula (or an appropriate match with modern paints) and then mix/adjust to match your present paint. Is your paint original to the car, or has it been repainted? If a repaint, maybe get info from the prior owner on where the paint was applied....then call the body shop and ask if they have the formula for the paint they used.
1970-1971 Bridgehampton Blue has a small amount of green paint mixed with it. That was done with a number of 1970-71 colors: Warbonnet Yellow and Steel Cities Gray, for sure. Another thing for you to be aware of: Bridgehampton Blue was paint code #979 for 1970 & 1971. But, in 1972 GM re-used the #979 paint code for Targa Blue, WHICH IS NOT THE SAME PAINT FORMULA! When you talk to painter or paint store, make sure they look up that code for 1970 & 1971....NOT for 1972.
Wish you luck. Getting a good matching paint for these cars with aging paint jobs can be tedious.
There are many American car clubs in Spain, one Corvette club in Madrid. Find the shop there in Madrid, they buy American salvage parts and supplies using container boxes. Since they are not shipped by air, paints are safe to transport.

Good idea thanks 😊. I found a paint shop here in Valencia that looks very promising to get a batch made up... They a paint camera plus tones of paint swatches to get the color about as close as possible. We’ll see how it comes out next week...🤞🏻
