After reading the superb thread "Tire Age 101", https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...out-there.html, it made me realize that even though my Firestone Firehawks SS20's have less than 25k miles and look like new, they are no longer roadworthy due to age. That said, what are the recommendations these days? A '72 convertible, stock w/4spd, factory rally rims, currently 225/70R/15's. Does this size still make sense?
I've had no complaints or issues with these tires for the last 17 years (yikes). I'm still looking for a solid raised white letter with handling and longevity characteristics. This car does not go to the track or see any winter driving conditions. Rain if I get caught out in it. What are your opinions and suggestions? Does anyone still use Radial TA's? Thanks.

Cooper, had many sets, they drive well, last and a much better tread pattern than the bfg..(letters dont brown either)
Script on the bfg sells them but the tread pattern is decades old. To each their own
235 mm wide tires are the widest that will not rub in front for ALL 1972 C3's. Lots of folks say they have 245's with no problem; some even get 255's to fit and not rub.
Personally, I like the look of 235R60-15's on my '71; 245R60-15's might fill the wheelwells a little better, but I don't want front tires to rub and I don't NEED anything wider than 235's.
