Default 1972 door jam questions

I am looking for a c3 chrome bumper roadster. I like the flares of the 70 to 72. But I also like the old school sports car look of the 68 to 69s so I can go that way. Have money for a nice car but afraid of what nice might be hiding probably will do restomod so don't want to tear apart a nice numbers matching car.

I found this 1972 needs alot but inexpensive. One of the many awesome members of the forum was able to chexk it out and take pics. Seems to check out except for the passenger door jam. There is some damage I forwarded to a restoration shop I have worked with.

The wierd thing is the square above the striker...on drivers side there is a thing sticking out on passenger its below the jam. Any idea what this is this is?

It's the door guide pin receiver used on convertibles.

I found the parts, are they something that can be replaced easily? I thought that was all bird cage up against the jam?

Pretty easy.... Here's how the back of it installs.

Cool. So really just comes down to replacing or repairing that quarter panel and live with potential paint mismatch until painting. The car seems solid other than that. Just would like to be able to work on projects in winter and enjoy spring through fall! Love that it has AC already.

Thanks for the info and the pics! As soon as I hear back from bodyman/painter I'll make decision!

That missing guide pin receiver might explain some of the damage to the upper and lower jamb areas.
The hinge pins may be worn and need replacing. Not uncommon.

I was wondering about that... not sure what caused the crack on quarterpanel though!
