From my shopping experiences both are $10 k over normal pricing

chrome bumper coupes small blocks $15k-$21k
chrome bumper convertible small block $18k -$27k
chrome bumper Big blocks all. $27k- infinity and beyond
rubber bumpers all $8k- $18k....they just aren’t desirable to collectors yet that drive the prices.

there was a guy looking at a 72 big block for $27k all original last week. I don’t know what happened to that one but it looked like a great deal

Nose rivets are clearly visible on this one. Been driven in the rain, or sat out for a while. Someone will be on the hook for body and paint soon. That's a $20,000 dollar hit. This car is a classic example of lipstick on a pig. I would pass.

I'm the president of the Scirocco Club....so I have no problem paying for VW parts at VW prices.

I personally think that buying from a dealer is throwing 30% down a rat-hole.

Keep looking. You may want to peruse the C-3 for sale section.
1. You're buying from an OWNER.
2. You will get the stories and the PROVENANCE
3. You can compare....the ads are still there even when sold...so the database is huge.

Get your bro' to write down EXACTLY what he's looking for....post it up in the WTB section....let 'THEM" come to you!
ps I had a C-3 with the PO-2 hubcaps....they are very deadly frisbees and are not sporting at all.

On any given day there are dozens out there better than this!
Unkahal
You win...everything above is spot on.

I spent a few years looking for my 1970 911...so much overpriced junk out there it is incredible. Porsche is expensive to begin with, and I can't stand guys trying to take people.

The other issue in the Porsche world is that owners all think they have gold. They often have crap! Unfortunately for me, I love the styling and provenance, and most of all, my car weighs sub 2000lbs.
If the general public only knew what it takes to run an old 911, the outlook/stigma re: their owners might differ.

Back to Corvettes, my father owned a matching numbers 63' vette, so I have always held them near, and am considering a 63' or a c6 Z06 to add to the stable. This post is for my brother-in-law, since he's looking for a c3, and I'd like to help him make an informed decision.

Thanks for all the help thus far!
