Hello,
The 3 carburetors on my car have the Chevrolet number and the List number, but no date code stamping. Does this mean they were not originally installed in the car when the car was built but replacements?

Holley dates are different than Rochester. If I recall it is a 3 digit number as opposed to 4. Should be there if original or even the service replacements I have seen. I assume you have a 68 or 69 tri-power?

Thanks for your reply. I have a tri power, and do not see the date code stampings on any of the 3 carbs, just the Chevrolet number which is correct for my 69 car , and the list number and also the letter suffix ev or eu. Carbs also have random ink stamp numbers here and there. One of the carbs has a lot of patent pending numbers on it, but other 2 not any.
I have both original and replacement carbs for.my 69 tri power.
The original carbs have the 3 digit date code, and the replacement new carbs i bought from Holley do not have them- although there are vendors that will stamp them for you for about $100.00 each.
Both sets have the model(part) numbers.
Also, my original carbs have the float bowls attached with flat blade screws, and the replacements have different screws, that gave, as best as I can describe, a reverse torx pattern.
With that said, I believe you.can still but the flat blade type screws from various vendors....
Seems like you may have replacment carbs?
People will pay a lot of money to make FAKE stuff look original so they can garner some award, trophy, or recognition. I am constantly amazed at that, as as the end of the day, they still know the stuff is FAKE.
Now, is it physically 'just like' the original hardware? Maybe. Does that make it "real"?
Thank you for your reply. I also have the 3 original date stamped carbs for my car and 3 replacements which are not date stamped. I purchased the car with both sets and was wondering why someone would go to the expense of buying 3 replacements if they already have the originals?
