74 Air Cleaner question

I have a chrome bling air cleaner on the car now but want to go back to the stock original.
Mine is pretty crusty and was going to get it bead blasted.
Question: was the original coating paint or powder coated?
A pic of a bone stock engine compartment would also be helpful

I doubt you will find a hi temp paint that will not become "sticky"

original was liquid..

powder moving forward , about 60-70 units @60degree gloss black

Definately paint. Gloss black ( but not to the point where you see your reflection)...it would match up with the power brake booster if the car has it. You wanted a bone stock original 74? Here's a really nice unrestored original (except for the belts). You can still see the gloss black on both the air cleaner assembly and PB booster. No decals on the original lids.

Nothing in a C3 engine compartment was ever painted GLOSS black. All the 'components' were painted semi-gloss black and all 'surfaces' were painted semi-FLAT or satin black.
