My C3 came without a rear tray assembly so I ordered a new one and it showed up without instructions to assemble it. It seems fairly straight forward but there are quite a few screws ans I dont know if the middle tray attaches to the top tray part or just sits behind the seats. Does anyone have step by step instructions for assembly?
I have the AIM and it helps but it doesnt show things like proper orientation of the hinges, which screws to use where, which rivets go in which holes, etc
Putting one together with new carpet is NOT a simple process. The area of carpet that will fit under the top rim pieces must be shaved down to remove that excess thickness. Then you need a temporary top plate (wood?) that can compress the rim & carpeting with 2 or 3 sturdy clamps, so that you can put the retaining screws thru the rim and into the lid pieces.
If you do NOT take the time to do that, the rim pieces will break and turn to cr@p.
Also, you need to think carefully about the sequence of assembling that compartment, since there are items that need pop-rivets and the sub-assemblies use screws to retain the final assembly. Use the drawing in the AIM to think thru that process (then write it down!) so that you can follow it and not have assembly problems. Good luck!
P.S. Why don't these items come with instructions? Well, many vendors just SELL this stuff...they have NEVER installed these components...ever!!! [Willcox is a notable exception to that statement.]
