i have a rusty old spring I need to get out. I dont think the bolts will move. Is it safe to sawzall the exposed bolts? I don't want any spring surprises
For what it's worth, once the bolts at both ends of the spring are removed, the spring should no longer be under any tension. Just the "dead weight" of the spring leafs themselves hanging below the differential carrier. If you had supported the spring (from below or up to the diff X-member) you could have cut the four mounting bolts you asked about with no danger from the spring.

Once the end point of that spring are freed, there is no tension in the spring assembly. You can cut the bolts. But, if the spring was 'loaded', that would NOT be a good thing.
