When the new car was delivered to a state that did not require a front license plate, the center grill was included with the car. When the new car was delivered to a state that required a front plate, a front license plate mounting bracket was included instead.

These 1973 GM center grills were discontinued log ago. Every once in a while NOS grills appear on ebay

Original grills were die-cast metal. Reproductions are plastic. The ribs on the plastic reproductions are much thicker than the originals and do not look correct, especillly next to original L/R grills. 1973 grills had a chrome leading edge. 1974 grills did not, they were all black. Grills are physically interchageable between 1973 and 1974.

A few years ago I purchased a new metal center grill for my 73 from Corvette Central.
Looks just like the original.

An absolutely gorgeous example of a 73, and those aluminum wheels look great on your car.
