That’s awesome, yours a crate or did you build it? Compression is 11:1, cam is 258-263 @.050 with 640 lift on a 109 lsa. Nothing too crazy, wanted a little vacuum and drive ability as this won’t be seeing much if any strip time.

Everyone told me to go bigger on the cam but I’m solid roller so that helps and Chris straub works miracles. I figure I’m at the boundary of pump gas

Summit racing is where I got the valve covers but I’m actually sending them back tomorrow and going same Moroso valve cover but 3/4” taller to clear rocker girdle, mike Lewis has helped me the most and been a great help. Always answers questions and responds very quickly. If you’re buying parts and needing any machine work I highly recommend him. He balanced my rotating assy and did a great job.

It'll move out quite nicely!

Over camming a street engine is always a pain in the ***, better to be on the safe side. Sounds like you got a killer setup!

Wow our engine builds are pretty close.
I’m at 10.4 cr, with a crane roller 234/248 @50, 610 lift and 112 lsa.
My cam comes in at 2,000 rpm and pulls through 6000 rpm.
I’m not sure if I’ll put mine on a dyno, because I’m not a numbers guy, but it should make great power mid range where I wanted it.
I wanted to go with a slightly bigger cam and a little more cr, but my builder suggested this combo for my driving and street use with pump gas.
I also went with a SST 5 speed with .82 5th gear and 3.08’s so I can cruise nice and easy down the highway.

Yes they are really close. I’m staying with the turbo 400 for now but will upgrade later maybe Muncie or Tremec.

I went with Silver Sport Transmission and their Tremec kit to swap over from my TH400.
Gary (GTR1999) built the rear end and I can’t wait to get it all installed.

I got the complete kit last year during one of their sales for about $5,200.00.
The kit includes all top quality components, everything you need even a new driveshaft and U-joints.
Check their website, because I believe they are having a sale right now.
Their tech services people and sales reps are awesome.

496's are fun. Mine is right at 10:1 compressions with Dr. J Airwolf (ported Edelbrock RPM) cylinder heads. Hydraulic roller at 240/245@.050 with ~.625 lift. Custom 3x2 EFI. Idles at 850 rpm. Pulls hard to 6200 (that is where the EFI starts dropping ignition pulses, cuts fuel at 6300).

Here is my rear wheel dyno chart. T-56 Magnum and Tom's 3.73 12-bolt rear. Upper lines are after the tune. Tuner said my sidepipes with STS baffles (centers capped) where restricting me above 5500 rpm. Could probably get another 50 hp up top but it would be much louder. Wife likes it as is.

Thanks. With the EFI, it will cruise comfortably down to ~1800 rpm on the highway. Very comfortable at 2200rpm and up. I ran both a stock Tripower setup and Mopar mechanical secondary Six-Pack carbs before going EFI. The carbs may have had more raw power (at least felt that way when the secondaries kicked in) but the drivability is so much better with the EFI.
