Storage Unit C3 Build
First time seeing it. It was stored just like this for 10+ years. I knew very little about Corvettes but fell in love at first sight.

After further investigation, I discovered frame damage that was "repaired". After sitting on this for a month or so not knowing what to do, I decided to pull the body and contemplate some more. Towed the car to work to remove the body and store it in the backyard there for a few months. Brought frame back to storage for disassembly.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Found me a replacement frame. Now need to make the trailer road worthy to make the trip and not get pulled over
Safety blue looks new.
The big day.
My rusted but solid and straight replacement frame ready for some cleaning.
Little clean up before some stitch welding
Few stitch welds
Back to storage for next weekend. Can I say I have 2 corvettes now?
Paint day
Don't put POR15 in a plastic cup. Was wondering why my boots were covered in paint. It will melt right through.
Time for some cleanup and paint
Can ya tell I like Safety Blue
More parts with a wire wheel and angle grinder. No luxurious sand blasters.
Reassembled with new MOOG ball joints and cross shaft bar
More Safety Blue
Getting ready to paint the lowers.
EvapoRust with an ultrasonic heater.
Works pretty good. This hardware looked like the stuff in my hand
Beauty shot. Stainless gas lines in.
The day the body supposed to go back on. I spent about 3 hours in the morning trying to get the gas tank straps on. Finally found the easy way of removing the gas tank support and spinning the straps into place.
I will quickly learn that the half shafts support the rear trailing arms. Not noticeable here because the spring is strong enough to support the frame with no body.
Body going back on just in time before winter. Don't want the snow plow hitting the already beat body.
Back home
Needs some more cleaning up. Wish I spent some time cleaning up under the body, but time was ticking.
Tight fit.
Little rearranging of the shop. I sometimes spend more time cleaning and organizing then I do working on the car.
Time to work on the steering column
I'll make 1 good 1 out of the 2.
New cylinder in, some other small odds and end parts I needed to order.
Replacing the trailing arm bushings. Easy tool made out of a piece of channel with a hole drilled in it. Old punch that I rounded the end on. Couple good wacks and it came out perfect
Safety Blue
Some VBP upgrades arrived. Spring, front sway bar, and rear sway bar.
