For me, color (unless it's just flat out hideous) is pretty much last on my list. As far as paint, more important to me is that the paint is in good shape (no rattle can/flaking/etc.) because it's one thing to respray a car but it's something entirely different to have to strip bad paint.

So:
  • When I bought my C5, I really wanted a Nassau Blue C5 but that's 1997 and 1998 which are the worst years. For the C5, it HAD to be a manual (C5 transaxle is too much work to swap) and it HAD to be in good shape (I was using it as a daily driver back then). Everything else was a tossup. I ended up with a Manual 2004 in silver that was overall in pristine shape. I sometimes float the idea of having it re-sprayed Nassau Blue but then I remind myself that performance is more important than looks so I continue to allocate money towards performance.
  • Now that I bought my C3, I would have preferred a red or black C3 (would have LOVED a chrome bumper but that wasn't happening). I ended up with a really nice automatic 1979 in silver. I didn't care what motor or transmission was in it, because both (even if it were a 4 speed) were going in the trash and getting replaced with a BB and T56.

I had a list as well and a budget as well...
If someone would have told me I would buy a green corvette I would have told them they were full of it...
I wanted an LT1 with Original Paint, Original interior, engine and chassis which had not been rattle canned, with an engine which had never been apart and never removed from the car, I preferred a 70 roadster in Laguna Grey or Silver with Red or BBlue interior or Mulsanne Blue with bright Blue interior... would take a 71-72 in same colors ended up with a 71 Coupe in Green over black PS PB PW - 2 owner car and with the 2nd owner for 17,000 miles from 1973 -2018- first owner did 27,000 miles in 18 months.

Yeah, but that Tan one for the right price and painted Black would be a sharp looking car.

Indeed it would, however I've decided to up my budget and look for a chrome bumpered car.
