Since the day I bought this car I have been astounded by the number of people that see me working in my garage and just stop to talk and say what a cool car I have. I started out just thinking that this was just another old car but now I understand it is something special. Thanks to all those who have given insight for all of the tasks I have undertaken and to those that made me dig into the manuals. Just wanted to share the joy of my 91 year old dad that requested a ride after I bought it and after engine overhaul, brakes, suspension and steering rebuild and interior makeover plus odds and ends I was able to give him a ride last weekend. I am a Corvette owner for life now! To all those wannabe mechanics like me...keep reading those manuals

Cool that you were able to fulfill your dad’s request. Congrats. Reading those manuals is much more rewarding than shopping on amazon for car wax and fuzzy dice. It’ll clearly separate you from the gold chainers out there.

I was working in my garage back in '79 when a cute blonde pulled up in a '72 Torino & told me she had always liked my Corvette.
We lived in the same apartment complex & she had seen me out there before.
We've been married now for almost 40 years......

Along the same lines...
Dateline 1980. Summer; 69 Convertible side- exhaust. Have to stop at the light on the main drag in town. There's a Blue USPS mailbox on the corner RIGHT THERE.
Beautiful Chickie is sitting on top of the mailbox in a red tube top.

" Nice Car!" She says.
Before I could even respond, she pops off the mailbox in a single bound and over the door in the 69, Nascar style.

" Take me skinny-dipping".

Chick is long gone...STILL have the '69!

Try that in your @#$% Prius!
