I was adjusting the idle on my 79 today, and noticed some smoke coming up near the firewall. I checked under the car and found a transmission leak.
There was a medium sized puddle of transmission fluid on the ground near the driver's foot area. I need to try to get the car somewhere that I can get it up in the air to see what is going on tomorrow.
Any suggestions on where I should start looking? As I recall, the transmission lines are on the passenger side and not the driver's side. Any ideas what this could be?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I was just looking at my assembly manual, and it looks like the leak is right in the vicinity of the shift lever on the drivers side. Could this be the problem?
Kick down switch, Pan Gasket, Shift shaft seal, Speedometer cable connection and the dreaded front main seal. I hate slush pumps, but when they work right they are a thing of beauty. Best of luck.
