75 sitting up for a while - does a 4spd car increase value
I have a 75 stingray t-top that belonged to my father in law. It was running but spent 25 years in his garage and his spent the last ten in my driveway covered with a tarp. Paint is pretty much gone, bumpers melted, etc. It is a 40k mile car with a 4spd transmission. My neighbors want to buy it to part it out. The proceeds from the sale would go to my wife and I want to get a fair price but they are good friends so a bit of deal to them would be ok. It looks like somewhat nice 75s can be had for 6-9k but most of them are not 4spd cars. Does that add much to the value? We are thinking 3500-4000 as the sale price.
I like 75's even though they were low point of performance. I think you're right about the price of nice 75's. We bought one with under 50k miles, good paint and mint interior for $7500. It was a L48 4spd. Yours is a 4 spd which most 75's didn't have, if it's an L82 then it will get you more but a L48, needing paint, bumpers, and probably mechanical work? eh get what you can but it probably is worth more parted out since those costs will add on about $15k so you have to find someone who can do all the work and paint it and they won't want to give you much, assuming the birdcage and frame are rot free.

Yeah I am concerned that sitting out in my driveway for so many years hasn't been kind to the car from a rust perspective. He restores cars for a living but he only wants this one for the drivetrain. The remainder will be sold off.
I think $3500-4000 is a price fair to both of you. However, if he is just going to keep the drivetrain (motor and trans) and then part it out with proceeds all coming back to you, $1000-1300 for the motor and trans.
