I like to clean and rebuild my parking brake pad / Assembly as the top spring broke and I need to replace it. I don’t have all the fancy blasting equipment just want to clean it off since I’ve gotten this far. is it best to just use degreaser or brake fluid with a wire brush? If there’s any surface rust do I need to apply a rust inhibitor once I brush it off with a steel brush?
Id say a can of brake cleaner and a brass brush..
I wouldn’t worry about surface rust BUT that adjuster needs to be pretty clean and lubed..also lube points manual says..replace all the springs and hardware..
FWIW a brass wire cup on a drill or small angle grinder does wonders for things like those. Gets into lots of corners and is still big enough to do surfaces. A light dusting of hi-heat or caliper paint will keep them fairly covered. Buy the stainless hardware but don't go for stainless pads (unless they've fixed them, for the longest time they didn't fit right)

I'll add another one for reference https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...e-install.html
Remember to put star adjuster on the rear for the left and front for the right, although without a self-adjuster I'm not totally sure it matters....
