I’m a New member, and I’m currently doing some major restoration work on my brothers 81 Corvette,I’m building a 383 Blueprint engine for it and noticed that the oe disturber doesn’t have a vacuum advance, I’m going to replace it with one that has vacuum advance, or possibly just install a vacuum canister on the oe one, any advice will be appreciated, thanks
Your '81 uses an ECM-controlled distributor and carburetor. The distributor does not have vacuum advance or centrifugal advance systems in it - it is controlled entirely by the ECM. You cannot retrofit it with a vacuum advance. If you disconnect the ECM from the distributor, you will throw a "check engine" light.

Thanks for replying, someone has already replaced the carburetor with a Holley, and installed headers,so if it had a 02 sensor it’s long gone. With the 02 sensor and the qjet carburetor missing, I’m assuming the timing will not be correct
Can you post some photos? If someone has already removed the ECM and changed the carb, you should be able to put in a GM HEI distributor with a 4-wire module and vac advance. Otherwise, you may want to consider doing that yourself.

Does your brother want the car to remain stock?
no, hes not going to race it, but when he steps on it he wants to fell that small block come alive,mos5 likely a weekend cruiser, I’ve put a Howard’s hyd roller cam, dart heads, Blueprint 383 stroker, with a B and M stall converter, It already had a Edelbrock RPM intake, and headers on it when he brought it to me, it’s a long story,He had it shipped from Virginia to Ky,we’re I’m at,because the person he had working on it was jacking him around, I’m about ready to drop the engine in and figured the oe disturbtor wasn’t going to work with all the Mods I’ve done.
