Shoulder belt question
I have a 1970 convertible... and have a question related to the shoulder belt and lap belt... it is my understanding from the NCRS manual that shoulder belts on coupes were standard and optional on convertibles. My question relates to the male part of the lap belt where the shoulder belt "connects" to via the pin on the male part. Does anyone who doesn't have the shoulder belt option tell me if the male part below does not have a "pin" on it, or do they all have the pin on it.
I purchased a seat belt extender (picture further below), and it does not click into the male lap belt part... I even tried grinding the male part thinking that it is not inserting itself far enough, but it still doesn't click. I purchased the extender from a Corvette supplier, and specifically chose the item for a '68-'71...
I think it's the fact the male part is curved and despite grinding it down a bit, it doesn't want to go past a certain point where the button would click in the hole. My next option is to try and grind off the male part at the top where the square hole is so that the button will click into it.
If anyone knows of an actual seat belt extension that works for this type of seat belt that would be appreciated...

To answer your first question, it is my understanding the convertible lap belts all had the pins you reference, just like the coupes.
The set belt set in your picture is aftermarket. The seat belt lap extender in your picture looks to have an OEM style/shaped male buckle The missmatch between aftermarket female buckle and the OEM style male extender buckle is causing your issue.
