Are you talking about the key lock mounted between the rear tail lights centered on the car?
That's for the hidden trunk...
Not really, it is the factor alarm system on/ off
If I remember correctly, the spare lock and the alarm both use the same key. If you don't have the key, take the spare tire lock to a competent locksmith. He'll be able to make a key to fit. If you have both keys for your car, the oval head key is the one for these locks.

Well, just went out to the garage to check this out, again. On my '72, which I've now had for 46 years, there are only 2 keys. The square head (actually rectangle) operates the ignition and the door locks. The other key, the oval head, opens the compartment lids behind the seats, the spare tire lock, and operates the alarm switch that's located between the tail lights. If you also have a round headed key (a 3rd key) then at some point in your cars history that cylinder must have been replaced. Checking with other C3 owners, we all have only two original keys.

Have had my 69 since 73 came with 3 keys. Seems to be 3 keys up to early 70, see link below.
Would be nice if the original poster stated what year or filled in his profile. https://willcoxcorvette.com/corvette...switch-68l-70e
