Default air cleaner markings

I stumbled on a thread a couple days ago and they were talking about a judge getting all excited about the under lid markings, so of course I had to go check on mine, is it rare for these to still be here ?

Not really. But some reproductions don’t have the silk-screening.

They are common. Air cleaners were silk screened in different versions depending on the build date of the car. Some were curved some were square. You can buy reproductions that have the silk screen present on the underneath of the lid. For someone with a survivor car original air cleaner lids may have value.

And this is important, because...??? It was my understanding that NCRS judges were not supposed to disassemble anything during the judging process.

While judges do not remove parts on your car you are asked to remove certain items so they can verify numbers. On example it to remove your jack, drop your spare tire, remove your air cleaner lid and remove your distributor shielding box lid...

Your understanding is only partially correct. There are several things that the OWNER is requested to remove. Air cleaner, spare tire, etc. The owner is NOT REQUIRED to remove or disassemble anything. But he doesn’t get full credit if the judges can’t determine the component is correct, e.g. the carb because you can’t see carb numbers with the air cleaner on.

I was just replying to the comments by 7T1:" And this is important, because...??? It was my understanding that NCRS judges were not supposed to disassemble anythingduring the judging process". I was clarifying that judges don't remove items but can ask to the owner to remove items so that they can verify numbers. F2 Speedy it's cool to have your original ac lid. Is the rest of the car original? You should post some pictures, love to see your car!

Appreciate the additional knowledge about NCRS judging and requesting owner to show specific items.
