since we are "expanding" the topic, does anyone else do this or is it just me?:
If I have driven the vette a lot in a short amount of time, like all weekend, and wave to any vette I see/notice (sometimes I miss them), then I jump in my daily driver and procede to wave at someone driving a vette, forgetting I'm not in a vette.
So if anyone driving a vette in the greater Houston area gets a wave from a guy in a white Yukon and you have no idea why, sorry, its just me

In the muscle car/classic car world drivers of other classics wave to each other. People driving anything from any brand seem to enjoy seeing another classic on the road.
Oddly enough I've found that if I'm in my T/A and drive past a classic Vette, most of the time they dont wave back. I don't know if it's them being elitist jackasses, or just being senile, but it's always the old guy in a Vette that doesn't acknowledge another classic.
It's REDICULOUS !! Vette to Vette always !!! Jeep To Jeep NEVER ......................

Just Wondering Here, Was the 'Wave" due to the Headlights ? I always at least flash the lights at any deserving ride. A wave, if I see them soon enough............
When I'm out in my 76', I wave to all the Vettes I encounter as well as all other old classic cars. The waves are always returned. Every once in a while, I will encounter a white C-7 coming towards me. When he gets close enough, he revs his engine, trying diligently to impress me. Not only do I not wave, I look the other way like I don't even notice him. I think it puts a bug up his ***.

I had a cool encounter earlier this summer in the Vette.
I was sitting at a red light when I noticed an 8-10 year old kid looking down from his house size SUV window.
He had a big smile on his face & he was giving me a thumbs up.
I gave him a thumbs up back of course and it made me smile too.
I thought, he gets it.
There's hope......
The WAVE is an important part of Corvette Culture. You are part of a family. Yes, the story is old, but Corvette will still be 70. Many old guys that drive Corvettes were young guys that drove Corvettes and knew how to fix them also. If you see a Vette on the side of the road, you stop and help. Even if it is just to keep them company while waiting for the Flat Bed. I know people that have been racing Corvettes for over 40 years. There are shops that have been around a long time also. Corvette Central started their business making parts they could not find. Maybe to the newer owner of Corvette, it is just a car. Not to me. I have met so many wonderful, great, generous people because of Corvette. If you ever come to my events in Michigan, you may meet people from every state in the US, parts of Canada, Brazil, Austria, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand. This is when you will understand why we wave. Go to any major event like Carlisle, Bloomington Gold, or Mid America. Take time to talk to people. Share a story. Save the Wave. Take care. Larry
Back in the 80's I had a 1970 MGB (first car). Head lights were flashed instead of waving. Not fast and didn't handle exceptionally well but a fun car none the less.
Rarely see them around any more. They all suffered from the horrible Lucas Electric systems. Probably not worth rewiring just to keep them on the road.
