First random question- I am trying to keep my 76 original. In order to be considered original how do you put new vinyl on the seats or where do you buy it.
Second random question- I want to repaint the front grilles. What is the best type of paint?
And last one- The grill on the hood has what looks like a nut that allows you to take it off. It has a ton of junk on it and it does not seem to want to come off. Is it a nut that comes off and on.
For trim paint, I like SEM brand Trim Black (#39143). It's a satin/semi-gloss that sprays well. It looks orange-peely when first applied but self-levels beautifully.

The grill should be held down by six 7/16" cap nuts...
Regarding the seats there are really good step by step install videos on YouTube from Corvette America for the different years. I had no issues doing them myself following along. Best of luck!
You only need three things to swap seat covers (besides the new seat covers):
1. Good installation instructions;
2. Woking knowledge of how the seats are put together (note: it is NOT intuitive nor obvious):
3. A decent amount of patience...or you can screw them up.

Agree 100%! If prepared and applied properly, this stuff will give professional looking results. I can’t tell you how many cans of this stuff (a lot) I’ve used over the years but I can say I’ve never been disappointed with the results.
See the inner fender wells of a ‘67 C10 I did recently in the attached photo. I removed them from the truck, along with everything else forward of the firewall for the engine/trans upgrade. I lightly sanded them, wiped them with paint prep and primed them with SEM self etching primer. I then sprayed them in a couple light coats with SEM Trim Black. I was thrilled with the way they turned out. This stuff ain’t cheap but it is worth every penny, at least to me.
