Default 1968 Corvette 427 Block Stamping

Have some concerns on the VIN Pad Stamping on this 1968 Corvette 427/400. Would like some feedback if you believe this is an original stamping. Thanks

Can't comment on the stamp but the car is listed in the C3 registry: https://www.c3registry.com/index.php?job=ShowRegistry

I know the car you are referencing. Can you get better/ higher resolution pictures from the dealer of the engine stamp? Also I would get the casting date of the block. The engine has a double stamp on the engine suffix side which did happen at the engine plant similar to other 68 engine stamps below. The vin stamp appears to be a light grind out and re-stamp.

well its pretty obvious whats going on here but the block could have been decked and then re-stamped with the same numbers ,,
this one looks like it was done freehand and it almost looks like after it was stamped they used a hammer to push the number ridges back down
and thats why the numbers look stretched out a bit , take it for what its worth

FWIW: it looks like both numbers have been restamped at some point.

To me, it looks like a factory stamp placed on the engine pad by a rookie assembler....or by someone on Friday afternoon--after having their usual "liquid" lunch.....
Everything looks OK, except that it was shi++y work.
