Default anyone recognize this?

I reassembled the center console of my 78 yesterday and was left with this small brass piece, anyone know what it is?

Nothing that I recognize. And I can't think of any item requiring that type of fastener in a C3.

Looks like brass. If it belongs to the car, which I'm doubting, the brass would indicate electrical - perhaps inside a relay or switch.

I hope you are both right and it somehow got into my bag of center console hardware by mistake. Getting the console assembled and back in position took a bit of fiddling, so I don't want to have to rip it out again.

I've had my 79' console apart MANY times. No brass screws that I ever found. Plus, it is a slotted head screw, don't think they used any slotted head screws back then.

It may me a ferrule to the oil pressure line possibly. Second guess but doesn't align to your year car is the fiber optic ferrule. both of these aren't great guesses

It looks like a screw inserted into a brass ferrel normally used with a compression fitting on poly tubing. Maybe was used to plug a vacuum line? Definitely homemade.

A 'ferrule' is hollow; it doesn't have a slotted screw head on it. That piece looks like something that retains the pages in a financial ledger.

It's threaded on the inside isn't it?

Have had the entire interior and nearly all of its assemblies completely apart in my '79 and there's nothing remotely similar.

It is threaded inside. I've come to the conclusion it's probably not part of my car, but no idea what it is or where it came from. Thanks for your help though.

Sorry meant to reply to this thread earlier.... I also agree with the assessment that it's not part of your car. I've seen book binders have a threaded screw with a sleeved screw like that basically used as part of the binder...

I think the mystery is (already) solved!
