Not sure of the start day but the first ones had March 18 on the trim tag.
I used to own 0009.
March 18 is the first day of regular production Pace Cars beginning with VIN 00003! But four Pace Cars were being readied for the Indy 500 race May 28th, VIN 0001 and 0002 and two mules. Engineers took two coupe models and outfitted them with the Pace Car option but they did not carry the 8th digit that designates the special edition with the 9 digit. Engineers probably began with the mules much earlier than March, followed by VIN 001 and 002.
