First I wish everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year, lets hope it's a better one. I have an 80 with a 350 crate motor, stock except for Edelbrock Carb and Manifold. Have a weird issue. Start the car, put the blower on high, nothing, open either side door blower turns on, close door blower goes off. I Installed new blower relay, checked fan wiring, installed new door pin switches, checked wiring on starter and battery. Even removed the fuse for dome/courtesy lights still happens even with no fuse. Checked block ground also. Completely mystified. Any ideas are appreciated.

The door switches complete a ground circuit. So your blower motor isn't grounded but somehow it does through the door switch.

i agree..
Check for all the grounds ..manually ground the blower ground wire...check your relay connections
http://repairs.willcoxcorvette.com/c.../blower-motor/

check ground to body..to bellhousing etc...

note..i cleaned my hi blower relay but then it still went bad eventually ..probably coil..so its not bulletproof ..bought one off ebay..

agreed, sounds like your blower isn't grounded correctly. and somehow is finding a ground through the courtesy light circuit. time to run a new ground wire from blower motor to the bell housing. and check the ground strap from block to frame. (right hand side, just in front of starter)

Thanks for the diagrams. Ground to Bell Housing is good. But I will try grounding the blower controls directly as well as checking all connections. Appreciate the replies. Have a Happy and Healthy.

Should be a black ground wire plugged in to a tab on the blower motor mounting screw. That wire also grounds the wiper motor and ends up near the starter on a bell housing bolt to ground both the blower and the wiper motor. There have been multiple instances of that small black wire getting hooked up to the big lug at the starter instead of ground.

Thanks to all of you for the advice, will start at the blower motor and trace all connections.
