wiper motor on 1970 doesn't work
Tested all the connections for power and grounds and all is fine. Pushed on the wiper switch and the motor will run. Take your finger off the switch and it stops. Could it be a bad ground. I tested the motor and it is grounded. Do I need another ground to the motor or the wiper switch.
Thanks

When I rebuilt the wiper system I also did my 63 project also.
Tested both and they worked! A few years later I went thru all the electrical on the 67 that I did on my frame up resto. The wipers would not work... SO, I take the wiper I rebuilt for my 63 project and test it and it works great. Now I'm thinking I'm crazy and just imagined that the 67 worked great after installing it and also had the awful feeling of removing everything under the dash to remove the wiper motor.
I too checked for grounds and all were OK. Just a tid bit, but getting a ground can be thru another circuit such as a winding that is grounded. That will ground in series. You see this especially when 2 head lights are both dim because they split the 12 V and are working in series now at 6V.
Well I took the cover off the 63 and refreshed my memory as to the workings, but in the back of my mind I was thinking the grease thickened in the 67 and not in the 63 wiper that was wrapped in plastic.
Bingo the linkage that the small electro magnet that was on the 63 moved freely and did not on the 67. ( the grease thickened) I already had the 67 cover off so I manually moved the linkage and it began to operate!! So I used a spray oil to remove the grease and allow the linkage to work freely and all works just great.
The lube I used on the parts was supposed to be the best, but, it gummed up a bit.
Wilcox test is great, but I needed to go inside the wiper mech to find the problem to finding that a tiny electro magnet starts the whole thing.
Also found one head light motor and one power window doing the same thing. That, I am working on next.
Most lubricants gum up after a while and so we tested all oils from Marvel to 3 in 1 under glass in the hot sun for about 6 months and out of about a dozen the only one to remain the same was ATF. All others thickened or gummed up. ATF is the light oil I do everything with and is what I ended up lubricating the wiper motor linkage with.
5 hours of misery because the linkage was not working due to grease not letting the magnet draw the linkage that starts the whole thing going.
I do believe that if I used the wiper motor this would not have happened, but it sat for about 5 years.
Just something to consider.

I'm going to run a ground from the bezel .It's new but I will ground the bezel anyway. I checked the wiper motor and it is grounded.
