Default Pad with engine numbers?

Is this where the numbers are? I repainted the front of the engine and think I covered it up! Lol

Yes. That is it. If you decide to remove the paint... you might consider paint thinner and NOT an abrasive. You do not want to scratch up the pad if you care about numbers.

Good, let us know if that was the right spot. Pretty certain it is. Also, you probably already know this, but be careful removing the paint. Don't use any abrasive pad. Good luck!

paint thinnner did the trick, top letters V1108 then maybe ZDD? Bottom number 1BS410555 which matches the last numbers on my vin. I found on the forum information on the top, V = flint, 11 = month, 8 = day...don't know what the last ZDD stands for though?

"ZDD" is the suffix code for a 1981 Corvette 350, 190 hp, with Federal emission equipment and a TurboHydro automatic trans. A Federal emission 4 speed would be "ZDA", a California emission automatic "ZDB", and a California 4 speed "ZDC".

Flint November 8th is correct, and is the date the engine was assembled in Flint MI.

Your VIN decodes as follows:
1 = Chevrolet
B = 1981
S = St Louis assembly plant
4 = Is a control number found in all 81 St. Louis built Corvettes. That number is a "1" on Bowling Green cars.
10555 = is the build number, or the 10,555th 1981 Corvette built in St Louis in 81. The C3 Birthday Calculator estimates that 10555 was built around November 15, 1980.
