Ok..I need some advice on the value of a 1981 corvette. I'll try and add details as best as I can. stroker - 400 miles since rebuild Skip White Aluminum heads Ederbrock Performer camshaft 7102 Elderbrock Performer Intake Manifold Elderbrock Performer Carburetor 600 CFM 1405 New radiator New water pump New Master Cylinder New Power Brake Booster Transmission rebuilt - 400 miles
Interior 70% complete - New carpet - New seat upholstery - New door panels (not installed, comes with) - New ignition switch
Newly painted (3 years ago) New fiber glass front and rear bumper covers New corvette emblems New rear control arms
The seller wants 9900 for it...since it looks like it isn't all original what is a good price point to negotiate and will the value hold? I know that's an impossible thing to ask but what the heck.
Thanks
Seems like it could be a fair price. Would depend on birdcage / frame condition and the quality of the work done. Sounds like a nice build but as you stated it’s not stock so values are hard to pinpoint. Pics would help.
he has receipt for parts and labor right?? Lots of story’s when it comes to engine builds and tranny builds
as far as future value hard to say... I see these cars going up in value but then again all internal combustion engine vehicles might be on the loosing end of value when gas becomes expensive or hard to get in the next 10 years. I think people in the hobby long term are in for a big upset.

no clue what you are doing with it.. and a lot of unknowns.. i think you could buy a more honest car for the money ( or slightly more).. too many unknowns and parts , and hacks like AC..
then again if tons into engine (running well) and paint totally professional... yup worth it if you want a project and no ac..
pics under the car may tell more
down side you are buying a project and your labor to assemble and $$ yet to be spent..
i would be around 5-7 to get excited and rust to be confirmed//
Hard to offer an opinion without a price, and no interior or engine bay pictures. If you're interested, I'd contact them to get all of that, then post the info here again.
Anything you see on CarGURU's is B/S...avoid at all costs.
No air...Vintage air is $2000. Is it an Auto? Just says tranny rebuilt. 4spd add $750
$8000.
Unkahal
Where did you see that the 82 had no air? It is listed as having it, but there are no underhood pictures. And I'm sure you know that 82 didn't have an option for a standard transmission. Or are you are looking at the first car he was interested in 5 months ago, not the one he just posted about? I assume he passed on the first one...
BTW, as far as I know, CarGurus is just a hosting site - the dealer could be top-notch, or the biggest crook in the country. It seems most dealers list their cars on several different hosting sites these days, just to get the most exposure.
The purple is cool. There's a $5K premium (at least) for being at a dealership. Offer less than $10K, give them your contact info, and let them stew it over for a bit. The probably got this car as a trade-in.
I'd say that $10K is a pretty "fair" price *assuming good birdcage, and no real rust (minor surface rust on underside is OK). . IMHO - For $14,900 it needs to be significnatly nicer than what it is...

Username checks out!
Here's the car, so you don't have to click on the link.
Thanks for posting the link...yes I did pass on the first car..I know they said purple but I think this car is dark claret
I don't know how far of a drive it is for you to see it in person. But since they are posting the VIN online (not a CE), they should have no problem sending you some extra photos. Ask for the trim tag, engine, and interior.
