I’ve got this trans on order. Has anyone installed it yet? Looking for feedback on performance. Maybe even a comparison to a tko for anyone who might have switched from one. I’m putting it in with a hydraulic clutch conversion. Also, is anyone running 18x12’s in rear? I have some with a 4.5 offset that I’m putting on soon. Looking to see what mods might be needed. I’m thinking at most the e brake bracket. Would appreciate any and all feedback. Thanks
Well if anyone installs it please post updates. As it stands, they are on back order and I’m told I get it in the 4-6 weeks. I’ll post when I get and updates through install and performance.

I m woundering why you went with the tkx over tko's,,

According to Tremec it’s a big improvement in shift quality especially high rpm shift quality with a smaller foot print which means less modifications ( more room ) to fit in the older vehicles compared to the old TKO
Many vehicles require the tunnel being raised two or three inches or they will suffer bad driveshaft/driveline angles
ok, im sorry for the misunderstanding,, I was thinking we were talking C3 cars here,,,
I'm sure the choice of a TKX will be rewarding, no matter the application,
Looking forward to OP's comments of how they enjoy it. ,,,,teddy,,,,

good question. The fitment is supposed to be better for one. The redesign is more ideal in the tkx as it’s supposed to be an upgrade in performance. Of course I can’t validate neither nor know anyone who can. Their are a few YouTube videos that break down the comparisons nicely. To top it off, cost is $100 more for tkx. Makes upgrading a no brainer.

I know it's C3 but at the same time this is part of the improvement with smaller foot print over the TKO according to Tremec even though it doesn't matter for Corvette , the early Chevelle or GTO and Camaro it will fit with less modification compared to the TKO
I plan on getting a TKX for my '72C3. The question I have is whether I can use the original shifter, or do I need to get it from one of the companies that modify the transmission. It looks like they cut a portion off part of the transmission around the shifter area, and I am willing to let the shifter be where it wants to come up, if it is doable, and reachable (rather taking meat from off the transmission shifter area).
As part of your homework, call SST and American power train. Talk to them and tell them what you want to do.
You can build anything, but , should you?
And , they can build anything, should you have them do it?...
Its all down to your time and budget as to how it you get it correct...
I have a SST Perfect Fit, and it actually fit perfectly. Worked for me...,, Hope that helps.
