How can you tell the difference between left and right control arms. I got them mixed up and would hate to put them on the wrong sides! Both upper and lower

Lower ones have the tab with the pocket for the swaybar sticking out the front side
When you hold the upper ones in place they should like they tip the spindle (caster) backward so the upper ball joint is more towards the rear of the car. Very obvious when you hold it up in place

As Interpon & Mooser have stated, the lower CAs have the stabilizer bar mounting brackets on the forward edges.
I tell the upper CAs apart using their general shapes and widths of the outer rims or lips thusly:
The rear sides of the uppers have a straight, narrow rim outside of the raised 3D "extrusion"
The forward side of the uppers have a curved, wider rim outside of the raised 3D extrusion
